Bill hails from Gilde Oregon and has always loved art and drawing. Growing up Bill always had a pencil in hand and was constantly doodling. Today the tradition continues and rather than doodling on paper, Bill scratches on ivory. This rare art form is called Scrimshaw. He started carving and jewelry making back in the early 70s making many forms of jewelry and selling them through his small business called Wilderness Jewelry. In time, Bill started teaching himself Scrimshaw. Early works were primitive. However, over the years his techniques have improved as has his art. Bill was most recently invited and featured for six months in the prestigious LaSalls Stewart Center and Gallery at Oregon State University. His work has also been displayed at numerous Roseburg art events and as well as consistantly winning blue ribbons at the local fair.
